Fifth Third Bank filed last week to close 19 brick-and-mortar locations across the country.

Of the filings made by the bank, which is headquartered in Cincinnati, eight were for branches in Ohio, four were in Michigan and two were in Kentucky and North Carolina respectively. 

Illinois, Georgia and Indiana each had one branch which the bank, which operates over 1,000 branches in ten states, filed to ax - according to a weekly bulletin published Friday by Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

Citizens Bank filed to shutter seven branches, adding to the six locations it had applied to close the week prior. It also filed to open three branches - two in Florida and one in Boston, Massachusetts. 

PNC Bank meanwhile, filed to close three branches - one in Alabama, one in Illinois and one in Texas. 

In total the OCC, to which most banks must register closures, reported that firms had filed to shut 42 branches under its jurisdiction between October 15 and 21. 

These also included closures from Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Capital One. 

Of the seven branches which Citizens Bank, which runs around 1,000 locations, filed to close, three were in New York, three were in New Jersey and one was in Mystic, Connecticut.
